How old does a car have to be to be an antique?
So you want to know how old does a car have to be to be antique. That’s a great question. There are a few categories for cars having to do with age. You have antique cars, vintage cards, and classic cars.
I will go through each of these categories to explain the differences.
Generally speaking, classic cars are generally late 20’s to late 40’s and are usually considered classic when they are extraordinary or limited in some way.
Cars are considered vintage when they are form a period of 1919 to 1930.
How hold does a car have to be to be an antique? Well it’s pretty much anything before 1918, but the Antique Automobile Club of America defines it as any vehicle made more than 45 years ago.
Another thing to be aware of is that the Department of Motor Vehicles from each state categorize cars differently. You should check your states DMV website in order to get a determination on what your car is categorized as.
